Gandhi & Shastri Jayanti at My School

A school day to remember

Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti at Govt. Primary School, Negipali, is a memory from 2 October 2026 that I am adding to My Diary. These photographs bring together the commemorative display, the children and moments from our school celebration. A school diary helps me keep these experiences alongside the everyday work of teaching, so that a special occasion can be revisited after the classroom has returned to its usual routine.

The portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri give this collection its focus. The display offers a natural starting point for conversations with children about respect, responsibility and the people remembered on this day. For young learners, a photograph or a familiar classroom setting can make such conversations easier to follow than a long explanation on its own.

Children at the centre of the memory

The photographs show children beside the commemorative display and taking part in the school gathering. Their presence is an essential part of this diary entry. School occasions offer opportunities to practise listening, being together and taking turns, while connecting classroom learning with a shared experience.

An occasion like this invites simple questions: Who can we see in the portraits? What does it mean to be honest? How can we show care for our classroom and for one another? These ideas can be explored through everyday examples, such as speaking truthfully, helping a friend or looking after shared materials.

Values we can bring into everyday learning

A celebration becomes more useful for learning when its ideas stay with us beyond a single date. Respect, kindness and responsibility can be revisited during classroom conversations, stories and small daily routines. Children do not need to memorise a long list of values to begin understanding them; clear examples and opportunities to practise can help.

These photographs preserve different views of the same school occasion. The display records its theme, while the classroom scenes record the people who were part of it. Together, they tell a fuller story than one portrait alone and give this page a connection to our school community.

Keeping this moment in My Diary

The final photograph brings me into the same memory as the school celebration. I am keeping this collection here as a record of the occasion, with space for both the photographs and the educational ideas they invite us to explore. My Diary is where these school experiences can sit together: celebrations, learning activities and the ordinary moments that become meaningful over time.
